Leaving reviews sometimes can be painstaking, so we want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to write one by helping them out a bit.
The easiest way to do that is to get a specific review link for your customers. To do that, you can either click on the top where it says the amount of reviews you have or you can scroll down to the bottom of the page. If you click the number of reviews, it'll just push you down here and then you'll see where it says “write a customer.”
When you click that, it will take you to a special review page that is created just for your book.
Note: We are not leaving reviews on our own books that will get you kicked off KDP.
Instead, we're going to take this link from the URL bar and give it to others. It will require reviewers to log into Amazon, and they can leave a review like they normally would for any other product.
In order to leave a review on Amazon, the reviewer must have purchased at least $50 worth of items at some point. They do NOT have to have purchased your book through Amazon to leave a review.
Additionally, make sure you are sharing this with people who buy your book. When they share their excitement with you, that’s the time to ask them to leave a review. For example, if someone is texting you or they message you or send you a DM, and they say, “oh my God, like I love your book!” You want to respond and ask them, “Thank you so much! Could you please leave a review on Amazon? Here’s the link.”
BONUS TIP: Take the review link and create a link shortener such as bit.ly or tinyurl. This option makes it easier for customers to remember and for you to copy and paste or type out yourself.
You can even ask them to copy and paste the same words that they sent to you in that original message directly into their review on Amazon. This is something that I've found has helped me get over 100 reviews on my book. The more reviews you have, the more people want to buy your book.
